Hi, I’m Zakk
This is the where you can quickly decide whether or not we’ll work well together. There’s no single therapist who can help everyone, and I’m no different.
I work with Christians who are struggling with depression, having a hard time managing their anxiety, or who have a porn addiction or have cheated in their relationship and it’s causing problems.
My clients are successful because they come to therapy ready to work. I have no desire to waste your time and money by asking you a bunch of rhetorical questions, and following that up with “How do you feel about that?” It’s not really effective.
That doesn’t mean you have to start your first appointment with all the answers. After all, that’s part of what therapy is for. But I do hope you’ll show up ready to begin digging in and getting to the root of the problem. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves to learn what we can do to make positive, healthy changes. My clients appreciate my direct and straightforward approach.
I’m not a “bobble head” therapist where I just sit and stare while you pour your heart out. And I also don’t hide behind a notebook making a bunch of notes about you (because that’s weird). And I don’t have some magic therapy wand I can wave and make all your problems disappear. But I can work with you to find the healing and hope you’re looking for.
Here’s the deal: I’m not an expert on everything.
Yes, I have several degrees and a lot of letters after my last name, but that doesn’t make me the world’s foremost expert on your life. I don’t walk in your shoes. I’m not in your life on a daily basis. That means that at our first appointment, I’m not going to have all the answers for you. I can’t just tell you how to fix it, because you know what it’s like to walk through your own life. I have the ability to help you find the right tools and the right solutions. And I years of experience in helping people just like you who need to get life back on track.
None of my Christian or “pastoral” titles mean I’m some up-tight religious or “churchy” person. I’m not interested in beating you over the head with the Bible. And I’m not here to judge or condemn what you’ve been through. I suspect the world has done enough of that already. But I do use my training, personal experiences and faith to help you understand how growing closer in a relationship with Jesus can help, while we learn practical tools to move you forward.
